Day three DONE! Today we did a few different things in the water and on land! We started off with some mangrove surveys on land which the local crabs and spiders did not seem to appreciate. Obviously we left them alone as much as we could but one could assume that there are some spiders actively rebuilding their webs as I type this. After the mangrove surveys we headed into the water for a conch survey. We didn't find any conchs but I did however spot some upside down jellyfish and got to snap a photo with a sea cucumber.
On the way back to campus we did a plankton tow so that when we got back to the house we could start on our plankton cell counts. As you can see in the picture, there was some pretty awesome zooplankton as well as an abundance of diatoms.
Overall today was great and i'm excited to get to do some more cool stuff tomorrow. :)
