Favorite day yet!!!!

WOW! Today was freaking awesome. This morning I got a little nervous when we got to our conch survey site because the water was really rocky and deep. However, I felt proud of myself for getting through it. Once we got to our second site the water chilled out and we snorkeled around the mangroves to explore and take pictures of all the creatures we could see. my favorite things I spotted was a giant hermit crab that had a conch shell, a puffer fish the size of my arm, and a beautiful school of butterfly fish. I also enjoyed our lectures from the graduate students about silliates and spiny lobsters! The best part of the day though was tonight swimming with the bioluminescent phytoplankton. You were floating and couldn't see the bottom because it was so dark. Then you moved your arms and legs around and all of a sudden it was like you were swimming through glitter or stars. It was truly magical. It was calming and spiritual experience. Nothing else mattered in that moment when you were under water and couldn't hear or see anything except the sparkles around you. They also had coke a cola on the boat which I deeply appreciated.
