Day 4: WHAT A DAY!!


Today we returned to Enrique to conduct a benthic and seagrass survey, working as
a team to identify species, measure coverage, and assess the overall health of the
habitat. We also measured seagrass density, looked for signs of disturbance, and recorded
environmental conditions to help build a clearer picture of the ecosystem’s status. After we started our in-lab session, we cleaned out the substrate, measured the height, and scraped off any epiphytes from the blades, also weighing them after the process. We then separated the above-ground blades, below-ground blades, and roots/rhizomes. We weighed each section and noted all data points.
