How is it already Day 4?!

What a day! Started off the morning with, you guessed it, BENTHIC SURVEYS! We got to see Cayo Laurel, a beautiful domain with both seagrass and coral. The ways were choppy, but we learned our lesson from the other day and just went with the flow🌊 Once back on land, we heard from Dr. Stacey Williams and her non-profit organization ISER-Caribe. It was amazing to see just how impactful Diadema (Sea urchins) are to Central American reef systems and how they need to be protected as a primary herbivorous species to the area. Lastly, we did even MORE sediment core biomass analysis, but this time we found Brittle stars!! I had one in mine and it was so tiny and awesome to hold, but of course we had to put him back in his habitat. Overall, I think today was just as eventful as yesterday and I can't wait for more! I LOVE being a marine biologist
