Highlight of the day!

So the highlight of the day is getting to speak with Dr. Stacey Williams. She took the time to talk about her program and past research. For background information, she is a coral reef ecologist who is the science director and co-founder of ISER Caribe. During her talk, she spoke to us about her work on Diadema antillarum larvae and being able to track the direction of where the juvenile larvae spawn. Further, she spoke to us how important it is to not put "all your eggs in one basket" when helping with population distribution with organisms; that is why they are raising coral, crabs, and D. antillarum at the ISER Caribe facility. Another major highlight was that I was able to get Dr. Stacey Williams's autograph!! I know, nerd alert! But I thought it was such a cool and crazy moment to be in the same room and talking to an individual who is trying to help change a whole region for the better. Dr. Williams, if you're reading this, thank you for taking the time out of your day to speak to our class. You inspired my classmates and me, and I can't wait to see the domino effect of the inspiration you have shared with us!
