Today, we took a boat to the University of Puerto Rico and took all of our gear and headed out on another boat to San Cristobal for benthic surveys. We did three in the area, and there were many pretty corals and gorgonians. I even saw a small sea slug that was very cute! Water filled in my right ear again today, but it wasn’t as bad because I put in some Vaseline before. I used my trick to get the water out and that worked and I hope I don’t have any issues tomorrow. We headed back to the university after that to listen to a talk given by Luis, a masters student that researches the wider application of seaweed farms for a food source. He even gave us a sample of red seaweed for us to try, and it had a slightly vegetal crunch and metallic taste. We packed up all of our wet gear after rinsing it off and brought it back along with all the clipboards and transect tapes because we are done with surveys! I finished working on my CPCE analysis and inputting my data, so I should be almost done with the day.
